![]() The Trap Hills area, in the western Ottawa National Forest, provides an example of the sort of area that should be given Designated Wilderness status. Like the nearby Porcupine Mountains State Park, The Trap Hills contains large tracts of undisturbed forest, roughly 200 acres of primary and 4000 acres secondary old growth. It is home to a wide range of rare and endangered species, including Eastern Timber Wolf, Peregrine Falcon, Fairy Bells, Braunís Holly Fern, and many more. Further, the North Country Trail runs along the Gogebic Range within the Trap Hills, providing hikers with an exceptionally rich wilderness experience.
